Jesus Christ Superstar
What's it all about?

Inspired by the political and personal struggles between Judas Iscariot and Jesus Christ, this spectacular musical follows the last week of Jesus' life, beginning with the preparations for his arrival in Jerusalem and ending with his crucifixion.

Originally written as a concept rock-opera album by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, Jesus Christ Superstar exploded onto the Broadway stage in 1971 and, by the following year, had received five Tony Award nominations. More than forty years later, the show has gone on to become one of the greatest and most enduring musical rock-operas of all time.

Bay Area Stage now brings the show to The Fetterly Playhouse in Vallejo with all the unforgettable songs including Hosanna, Gethsemane, Everything's Alright, I Don't Know How To Love Him and the title song itself Superstar.

Jesus Christ Superstar will incorporate non-tradition costumes and settings. As with all Bay Area Stage Productions, proper respect will be paid to the subject matter of this play and to the authors' original vision. Jesus Christ Superstar is a fictional account and is not to be considered historically or biblically accurate in its content.
