Hay Fever Dreamweavers Napa Set Sketch |

Hay Fever set description to come. |

I hate Hamlet Set Design |
|
| The Fetterly Center lends itself to sprawling sets with plenty of play space. I brought the stairs up from the main floor to the stage - and then up to the balcony & door to the stairs leading to the "apartment on the roof" in order to compensate for the low overhead clearance (11 ft.) |
The final set was, as usual, the same but different :-)
Many thanks to Vallejo Music Theatre for supporting our endeavors in the arts. |

| Buried Child was designed to be built from old, discareded wood. Stacey and I searched the neighborhood for folks who had recently replaced their yard-fencing and we were able to gather enough wood to create an authentic looking rustic farmhouse interior. Inspired by the set for "Death of a Salesman", the audience was able to "see through walls" onto the porch and out into the cornfield. |

The set for the Canterville Ghost was more
than 80 feet long! With a clearance of only
11 feet from stage to proscenium, this set at the Fetterly Playhouse had to be designed with "sprawling" in mind in order to give the appearance |
of a large castle-like interior. There were disappearing ghosts and witches, a winding staircase, flying luggage (we made a fly system where there was none before) and a rotating portrait of 'The Bard.' |

Butterflies Are Free - Concept |
Butterflies Are Free - Final Set |
|
|
Butterflies are free was a combination of a 300lb
claw-foot bathtub, an 8 foot tall bed above a fully equipped bathroom, a functional kitchen with stove,
sink and fridge, a skylight (with stars that twinkled),
a "mod" support beam running to 'nowhere's-ville', |
and the coolest of antique/retro Saturn Lamps hanging from the ceiling for shadow effects. The apartment set was painted to be a reflection of my experiences in the 1970's :-) |
